Summer Schedule 2013
- This schedule shows the exact number of hours it takes for one of our ensembles to have a successful summer. As the leader of the marching band I am responsible for all rehearsals, extra curricular events, contests, etc. My training on being an effective educator will be put to the test.

Employees Under Mr. Sloniker
- I am responsible for a number of employees that assist our instrumental program in both the summer as well as the winter. These employees are asked to not only sign contracts but are also required to fill out background checks, statements of understanding and other documents to help make us as successful as possible.
2.) The teacher demonstrates a high regard for others and collaborates with colleagues to make the school community successful.
Email with Lora Wilson - 4/25/13
- This email shows Lora Wilson informing of a disgruntled parent after our spring concert in April. After Lora informed me of the message that was left I went to her office and discussed the issue with her and how we can approach the situation in the future.
3.) The teacher pursues opportunities to improve knowledge and practice, welcomes constructive feedback to improve practice, and actively participates in professional development.
Pre-Registration Confirmation Email
- This email shows my registration for the 2013 IMEA conference that was held in Ft. Wayne. This conference is held every year and provides professional development for Indiana educators on the years discussions such as technology, classroom management, and other topics
4.) The teacher attempts to remedy obstacles in student achievement to facilitate student success. There is evidence of commitment, hard work, patience, tenacity, and alternative approaches to ensure student success.
Contract with Alex Lingafelter - On File at HHS
- After multiple incidents, and with help from the administration I set up a written contract with Alex Lingafelter to help him understand the seriousness of his actions and to prevent him from committing other actions against fellow students.
5.) The teacher interacts with parents and develops positive relationships with students and parents. The teacher attends conferences and meetings and responds to parents appropriately.
Band Booster Minutes
- I regularly attend band boosters meetings that often have parent concerns at the program. In these meetings I try to inform students what the direction of the program is and what our goals for the near future are.

6.) The teacher seeks out relevant research and current education innovations, implementing them when/where appropriate.
PD 360, Facebook Group - Band Directors, Ball State Professional Development, Talking to fellow colleagues
- Outside of the classroom it is my responsibility to stay current in all issues that are affecting music education. I stay active by watching PD 360 videos, participating in discussions on community boards on social sites such as Facebook, and attending free professional development opportunities held at Ball State University. I also rely heavily on discussions with previous employers teachers and mentors. The information gathered from these activities help keep me current on trends that I need to look out for and stay up to date on.
