Domain 3: Effective Instruction
Teachers facilitate student academic practice so that all students are participating and have the opportunity to gain mastery of the objectives.
1.) The teacher effectively develops student's understanding of the objective by communicating what students will know or be able to do by the end of the lesson, connective the objective at key points during the lesson.

Note Board
- This picture below is of a chromatic note board I use in my classroom. This gives student an aural as well as visible way to play notes, scales, chords, etc.
5.) The teacher responds to students answers by probing for higher level understanding in an effective manner.
Favorite Song/Favorite Musical Group Project
- The following worksheet is an assignment students are given in General Music 7. This assignment not only asks them for what their favorite song or group is, but why it is their favorite and also asks students to retrieve information they may or may not have known about the song/group.

Folder Check - 7th Grade Music
- Every 3 weeks I like to do a folder check with my seventh grade music class in order to make sure that students are not only keeping track of the information I have given them so far in the class, but that they are also aware of their own progress, noting what still needs to be turned it, and their grade has been on past assignments, etc.

9.) After analyzing data the teacher reteaches, modifies long-term plans, and modifies practice as appropriate.
Lesson Plan - 1/28/13
- This lesson plan shows how I went about reteaching the concept of "D.S. al Coda." Some students were aware of the information while others were not. I provided both audio examples as well as written examples to help students understand the information from the first time I taught it.

Cheery Blossom Picture - Junior High Band
- The picture below is of a Cherry Blossom, a flower which is native to Japan. One of our pieces of literature this year was called "Asian Folk Rhapsody". In this piece we discovered several different styles of music from Asian culture. One selection was entitled Cherry Blossom or Sakura. We briefly talked about how the Cherry Blossom grew, when it was in blossom, and they physical appearance of it (by using the below picture).

iPad Apps - Garageband & Tonal Energy Tuner
- The above apps are to that I use heavily in my ensembles. These apps help teach students about proper tuning techniques and music theory that we are using in the classroom. It also provides for a visual and aural form of communication for the multitiered learner.
